Metrostroi

General info/advice

  • Better spawn trains in dead ends or on stations, avoid spawning in depot if you don't know how to get trains out of it
  • Remember to have fun, and remember that it's still GMod - you can always attach extra thrusters for that speed boost or downforce.
    • You can use Wiremod too, although train support for them is lacking
  • Some things you can only do while in driver seat AND only with keyboard
    • To insert the reverser lever/wrench press Shift-0, press 0 (forward) or 9 (backward) to switch directions.
    • Safety pedal (deadman switch like floor pedal) is Space
    • Older trains also require you to open up pneumatic valves with Num0 but you can do it with the mouse if you can find those valves...
  • On older trains watch the ammeter to get the idea how strong the acceleration/deceleration is.
  • 81-760 is probably the easiest to drive
  • 81-702 and 81-703 is the least complicated (and least safe) trains, easy to get going
  • All trains before 81-718 use RK (Rheostat-Contactor control scheme), which generally means acceleration/deceleration rate can only increase and only way to decrease it is to completely reset it.
    • It also means everything has a significant delay and if you don't respect those delays some things might not work because they end up in incorrect state
  • Avoid using SPB trains (81-502, 81-717 SPB, 81-717.5П 81-722), some are annoying to get working, some are outright broken, SPB trains also lack 2/6 signalization support and are automatically restricted on maps that use it.
  • If playing on map with 1/5 signalization (no ЛН lamp, only one speed limit lamp at a time) - watch the signs, if playing on map with 2/6 signalization - watch cab speed limit lamps
